History
In 1991, the
Lions Club of Whyalla Mount Laura established the Whyalla Gift
Foundation to assist persons financially when they are selected to
represent Whyalla, South Australia or Australia in their chosen sport or
competitive activity.
The
Foundation is now funded by donations from the Corporation of the City
of Whyalla, the Lions Club of Whyalla Mount Laura and allocations from
the Whyalla Community Fund-raising Association.
Rules

The
nominated person must be chosen to represent Whyalla, South
Australia or Australia.

The
person nominated must be a permanent resident living in Whyalla.

Where
possible, the application must be authorised and verified by elected
officers of the
parent body: local, state or national.

All
applications must include supporting documentation.

Each
application is examined on its own merits, there is no set figure
that can be used as a
precedent.

The
amount of grant depends upon the funds available at the time of
application.

Grants
available to assist in expenses to participate in the actual events.

The
Whyalla Gift Foundation reserves the right to make a recommendation
that a grant
not be given without reasons.

Recipients of assistance are required to furnish the Foundation with
a brief written report within
one (1) month of the event.

All
applications should be lodged at least fourteen (14) days prior to
departure.
